BJP President: India-US Trade Deal to Boost Economic Momentum
BJP National President Nitin Nabin praised the new India-US trade agreement, stating it will give the Indian economy fresh momentum. He added that this deal is a major step toward India’s goal of becoming a developed nation.
These comments followed a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where they announced the historic trade deal.
Key Terms of the Agreement
Under the new deal, the United States will lower the reciprocal tariff on Indian goods from 25% to 18%. President Trump noted that India will work toward removing both “tariffs and non-tariff barriers” against US products, aiming for zero. Additionally, India has committed to purchasing more than $500 billion worth of American goods, including energy products.
Strengthening Global Ties
In a post on X, Nitin Nabin called the progress in India-US relations commendable. He highlighted that closer ties between the world’s two most powerful democracies will create a positive and lasting impact.
“This decision will provide new momentum to the progress of the Indian economy. It will also give new energy to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives,” Nabin stated. He also congratulated the Prime Minister, noting that his leadership is creating new opportunities for India’s youth.
Prime Minister Modi’s Reaction
Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement over the deal, particularly regarding the benefits for Indian manufacturing. He stated he was “delighted that Made in India products will now have a reduced tariff of 18%.”
“Wonderful to speak with my dear friend President Trump today,” the Prime Minister said. “Big thanks to President Trump on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India for this wonderful announcement.”
Modi emphasized that when the world’s largest democracies work together, it benefits everyone and opens up massive opportunities for cooperation that helps both nations.
