Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik announced on Monday that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is now complete. During this process, 97.37 lakh voter names were removed from the list under various categories.

The state now has a total of 5.67 crore registered voters. This updated list reflects all additions, deletions, and corrections made during the revision period.

Key Changes in the 2026 Electoral Roll

Before the SIR began, Tamil Nadu had 6.41 crore voters. Following the update, the state added 7.40 lakh new voters in the 18–19 age group. At the same time, over 97 lakh names were deleted to ensure the list is accurate.

Continuous updates to the electoral roll will begin immediately to keep the data current.

  • Male Voters: 27,738,925
  • Female Voters: 28,960,838
  • Third Gender Voters: 7,617

During the revision, officials accepted 423,172 new application forms. Additionally, 70 lakh voters with mapping issues and 1.58 crore voters with minor discrepancies were restored to the rolls after submitting the necessary documents.
