Warangal park in Telangana has become the first of the seven proposed mega parks to start commercial production. India’s flagship textile infrastructure project, the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park, has now entered an important phase with operations beginning in Warangal.
The official PM MITRA handle announced the update on X: “Something Big Just Happened in Indian Textiles. India’s first operational PM MITRA Park in Warangal, Telangana continues to advance at speed — with commercial production now underway.” Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh called it a “decisive step” toward building a future-ready textile ecosystem.
“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji, India’s first operational PM MITRA Park at Warangal, Telangana has begun commercial production. This marks a decisive step towards building a globally competitive, future-ready textile ecosystem,” he said.
What Is PM MITRA?
PM MITRA (Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) is a central government scheme. It aims to create large, integrated textile industrial zones across India.
The project has a total budget of ₹4,445 crore, to be implemented over seven years until 2027–28. The mega parks are expected to attract around ₹70,000 crore in investment and create nearly 20 lakh direct and indirect jobs across the country.
Where Are the Seven PM MITRA Parks?
In 2025, the government finalized seven locations for the parks:
- Tamil Nadu – Virudhunagar
- Telangana – Warangal
- Gujarat – Navsari
- Karnataka – Kalaburagi
- Madhya Pradesh – Dhar
- Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow
- Maharashtra – Amravati
State governments are responsible for building external infrastructure such as roads, power supply, and water supply up to the park boundary.
According to the Textiles Ministry, projects worth ₹2,160.17 crore have started so far, and ₹564.72 crore has already been spent.
