China to Attend India’s AI Impact Summit: A Boost for Bilateral Ties

China has officially confirmed its support for India’s latest global technology initiative. By participating in the upcoming AI Impact Summit, the Chinese government is signaling a positive shift in relations between the two countries.

Improving India-China Relations

Pratik Mathur, India’s Consul General in Shanghai, stated that China’s involvement shows “growing positive momentum.” This progress follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tianjin, China, in August 2025 for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which helped rebuild ties.

The Chinese delegation will include high-ranking officials and experts, such as:

  • Chen Jiachange: Vice Minister of Science and Technology.
  • Liu Yuechen: President of the Shanghai AI Research Institute.
  • Senior scholars from the China Center for Information Industry Development and leading technology universities.

China has expressed full support for India’s work in “reformed multilateral cooperation,” focusing specifically on the needs of the Global South.

The World’s Largest AI Summit

The AI Impact Summit is set to be the largest event of its kind. It follows previous global meetings like the AI Safety Summit in the UK, the Seoul Summit, and the AI Action Summit in France.

Key statistics for the event include:

  • 35,000 registrations from across the globe.
  • Participation from over 100 countries.
  • Attendance by 15 to 20 heads of government and over 50 international ministers.
  • Support from more than 40 major global and Indian firms.

Global Tech Leaders to Attend

The summit will host some of the most influential figures in the artificial intelligence industry. Notable attendees include:

  • Jensen Huang: Founder and CEO of Nvidia.
  • Demis Hassabis: Co-founder and CEO of Google DeepMind.
  • Dario Amodei: CEO of Anthropic.
  • Brad Smith: President and Vice Chair of Microsoft.
  • Julie Sweet: Chair and CEO of Accenture.

This gathering marks a significant moment for India as it takes a leading role in shaping the future of AI and international cooperation.
