French President Emmanuel Macron Arrives in Mumbai for Official Visit
French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived in Mumbai late Monday night. The President is visiting India for three days at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During this visit, from February 17–19, President Macron will attend the AI Impact Summit and hold a bilateral meeting with PM Modi. This marks the President’s fourth trip to India and his first official visit to Mumbai.
Strengthening India-France Strategic Ties
PM Modi and President Macron will review the progress of the India-France strategic partnership. Their talks will focus on strengthening existing ties and expanding cooperation into new and emerging fields. The two leaders will also discuss important regional and global issues.
Official Schedule for Today
- 3:15 p.m.: PM Modi and President Macron will hold bilateral meetings at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai.
- 5:15 p.m.: The leaders will inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. They will also address a group of business leaders, start-ups, and researchers from both nations.
Mumbai Traffic Advisory and Restrictions
Due to the “India-France Year of Innovation” event at the Gateway of India, the Mumbai Traffic Police have announced several restrictions. Expect heavy traffic in South Mumbai from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., particularly near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg, P Ramchandani Marg, B K Boman Bahram Marg, and Mahakavi Bhushan Marg.
Road Closures
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg: Closed from the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk junction for all vehicles except emergency services.
- Alternative Route: Drivers can travel from Regal Junction via Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, Mahakavi Bhushan Road, and Bomen Behram Road.
- Adam Street Junction: The stretch from Jokhim Alva Chowk to Adam Street will be closed to regular traffic.
- Alternative Route: From Alva Chowk, vehicles can go toward the Radio Club via P Ramchandani Marg, then use Haji Niyaz Azmi Road to reach Jagannath Palav Chowk.
Parking Restrictions
Parking will be strictly prohibited on the following roads:
- Nathalal Parekh Road
- Jagannath Bhosle Road
- Captain Prakash Pethe Road
- Rambhau Salgaonkar Road
- Shahid Bhagat Singh Road
- B K Boman Behram Road
- The area behind Hotel Taj (from Raobahadur Desai Chowk to Hotel Diplomat)
The taxi and BEST bus stands at Adam Street and P. Ramchandani Marg will also be affected. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance.
