Deepinder Goyal Resigns as Eternal CEO; Blinkit’s Albinder Singh Dhindsa to Take Over
Deepinder Goyal has stepped down as Director, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eternal, effective February 1, 2026. The company announced the leadership change on January 21, alongside its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2025.
The Board of Eternal has recommended Goyal’s appointment as Vice Chairman and Director, subject to shareholder approval. His term in the new role will be five years.
At the same time, Albinder Singh Dhindsa, the current CEO of Blinkit, will take charge as the Chief Executive Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of Eternal from February 1, 2026.
Why Deepinder Goyal Is Stepping Down
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Deepinder Goyal explained that he is stepping away from the CEO role to focus on new ideas that involve higher risk and experimentation.
Goyal said these ideas are better explored outside a public company like Eternal. He added that Eternal should remain focused and disciplined while expanding in areas that align with its existing business.
“If these ideas belonged inside Eternal’s strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company. They do not,” Goyal wrote.
Deepinder Goyal’s Background
Deepinder Goyal co-founded Eternal, earlier known as Zomato, in 2008. He holds an integrated master’s degree in technology, mathematics, and computing from IIT Delhi. Before starting Zomato, he worked at Bain & Company.
What Changes for Eternal Under New Leadership
As the new CEO, Albinder Singh Dhindsa will oversee the day-to-day operations, operating priorities, and key business decisions of Eternal.
Goyal said the responsibility for execution will now fully shift to Dhindsa, calling him the centre of gravity for operational decisions.
Goyal Backs Dhindsa’s Leadership
Praising Dhindsa’s leadership, Goyal highlighted Blinkit’s turnaround under his guidance. He noted that Blinkit’s journey from acquisition to breakeven was achieved under Dhindsa’s leadership.
Goyal said Dhindsa built the right team, culture, supply chain, and operating systems, adding that he has the mindset of a battle-hardened founder.
“He is more than capable of leading Eternal as Group CEO,” Goyal said.
