The preliminary report on the plane crash that killed NCP leader Ajit Pawar will be released by February 28, according to Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol. The Minister of State for Civil Aviation shared this update on Sunday, confirming the timeline for the investigation.

Investigation Timeline for the Baramati Crash

Ajit Pawar and four others died on January 28 when their Learjet 45 crashed near the Baramati airport. Speaking to reporters at a recent event, Mohol clarified that the preliminary findings would be shared within one month of the accident.

“The preliminary report will be out on or before February 28,” Mohol stated, aligning with the Civil Aviation Ministry’s earlier promise to make the findings public within 30 days.

Allegations of Foul Play and Political Tension

The crash has led to significant speculation and political debate. Rohit Pawar, an NCP (SP) MLA and Ajit Pawar’s nephew, has held several press conferences to highlight what he calls technical anomalies and irregularities. He has specifically questioned the firm that owned the aircraft and raised concerns about potential foul play.

On Saturday, Rohit Pawar wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the resignation of Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu until the inquiry is finished. In his letter, which was also sent to Home Minister Amit Shah, he called for an independent investigation into the links between the aircraft company, VSR, and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Official Response to Safety Concerns

Minister Mohol addressed these concerns by pointing to a recent statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). He noted that the aviation body has already clarified the details of the ongoing inquiry.

“The agency has confirmed the report will be out by February 28,” Mohol said. “The investigation is transparent, and the report will be public. I do not wish to comment on individual remarks.”

The Civil Aviation Ministry originally announced on February 19 that the preliminary report would be released within 30 days of the tragedy, and officials maintain that the investigation is on track.
