Activision to Shut Down Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile on April 17
Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will shut down its servers on April 17, 2026. This marks the end of the mobile battle royale title. Current players can continue to play the game until that date, but all support will end after the shutdown.
Alternatives for Mobile Players
For fans who want to keep playing Call of Duty on their phones, Call of Duty: Mobile remains a top choice. It features its own battle royale mode and offers a similar high-energy experience.
In their announcement, Activision stated, “Player passion and feedback continue to shape the future of the Call of Duty franchise. We look forward to delivering meaningful seasonal content and updates to Call of Duty: Mobile.”
Warzone Remains Available on PC and Consoles
While the mobile version is closing, the core Call of Duty: Warzone remains free-to-play on Xbox, Battle.net, PlayStation, and Steam. This ensures that fans can still enjoy large-scale battles on their consoles and computers without interruption. Activision’s decision is part of a plan to focus resources on the most successful parts of the franchise.
Why the Game is Closing
The shutdown has been expected for some time. In May 2025, Activision removed Warzone Mobile from app stores and stopped releasing new seasonal content. Since then, the game has been in “maintenance mode” with no future updates planned.
When it first launched, Warzone Mobile was meant to bring the console and PC battle royale experience to mobile devices with massive maps and familiar gunplay. However, the game struggled with several major issues, including:
- Technical performance glitches
- High hardware requirements
- Intense competition from other mobile shooters
These challenges limited the game’s success, ultimately leading Activision to end the mobile adaptation.
