Mumbai Metro Accident: One Dead and Three Injured in Mulund Pillar Collapse
A tragic accident occurred in the Mulund area of Mumbai on Saturday afternoon when part of an under-construction metro pillar collapsed. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident took place during active construction work on LBS Road.
Details of the Incident on LBS Road
The collapse happened near the Johnson and Johnson Company. Reports indicate that a portion of the parapet wall, measuring approximately 6 feet by 4 feet, fell from the elevated metro bridge.
The falling debris struck an auto-rickshaw and a Skoda car traveling on the road below. Emergency services, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, metro staff, and local ward officials, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
Casualties and Injuries Reported
One person has died following the collapse. The victim was identified as Ramadhan Yadav, who was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately declared dead on arrival.
Three other individuals sustained injuries in the accident:
- Rajkumar Yadav (45)
- Mahendra Yadav (52)
- Deepa Ruhiya (40)
Official Response and Site Visit
The newly elected Mayor of Mumbai, Ritu Tawde, visited the site immediately to assess the situation. The BMC confirmed that the incident occurred while construction was underway on the northeast Mumbai metro route.
Authorities are currently managing the site and investigating the cause of the structural failure.
