Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Nabin has been appointed as the party’s new National President, taking over from Jagat Prakash Nadda. His elevation is seen as a move to strengthen the party’s organisation and bring generational change ahead of crucial state elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha election.

Key state elections are expected this year and next in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh, making Nabin’s leadership a strategic choice for the party.

Political Career and Legislative Experience

The 45-year-old leader has been elected five times to the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He first entered politics in 2006, winning from the Patna West Assembly constituency. Since 2010, he has represented the Bankipur Assembly constituency, winning consecutive elections in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025.

During his time in the Bihar government, Nabin has served as a Cabinet Minister, handling portfolios such as road construction, urban development, housing, and law. He is known for his organisational skills and administrative efficiency.

Organisational Roles Within BJP

Nitin Nabin has also played an active role within the party organisation, holding responsibilities at both the state and national level. He has been assigned key organisational tasks in states such as Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, helping strengthen the BJP’s presence across the country.

According to reports, BJP colleagues describe him as hardworking and committed, always putting the party’s interests first.

Chhattisgarh Campaign and Rise to National Leadership

In 2023, Nabin led the BJP’s campaign in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. Despite the Congress government being seen as strong and most exit polls predicting a Congress win, the BJP secured a clear majority under his leadership.

This campaign success, more than his own electoral victories in Bihar, paved the way for Nitin Nabin to become the BJP’s National President. His strategic skills were further demonstrated when he played a key role in helping the BJP return to power in Delhi, reclaiming the capital after nearly three decades.

Conclusion

Nitin Nabin’s rise as BJP’s National President reflects his proven electoral record, organisational skills, and strategic leadership. With crucial state elections ahead, his leadership is expected to shape the party’s roadmap for the next general election.
