New Vande Bharat Express to Connect Udaipur and Ahmedabad
The Railway Board has approved a new Vande Bharat Express service linking Udaipur in Rajasthan with Ahmedabad in Gujarat. This semi-high-speed train will run between Udaipur City station and Asarwa station in Ahmedabad, under the North Western Railway (NWR) zone.
This new route is expected to improve regional travel and boost local business. In an official statement, the NWR noted that the Udaipur City-Asarwa Vande Bharat train was approved to make travel more convenient for passengers.
Two Vande Bharat Routes Discontinued
As the new service between Udaipur and Ahmedabad begins, Indian Railways is withdrawing two existing Vande Bharat routes this week. The trains connecting Udaipur City to Agra Cantt and Jaipur will stop running.
According to the NWR:
- Train No. 20981/82 (Udaipur City–Agra Cantt): Last day of operation is February 15, 2026.
- Train No. 20979/80 (Udaipur City–Jaipur): Last day of operation is February 14, 2026.
Udaipur City–Asarwa Vande Bharat: Schedule and Route
The new Udaipur City–Asarwa (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week. There will be no service on Tuesdays.
Train Timings:
- Train No. 26963: Departs Udaipur City at 6:10 a.m. and arrives at Asarwa (Ahmedabad) at 10:25 a.m.
- Train No. 26964: Departs Asarwa at 5:45 p.m. and arrives back in Udaipur City at 10:00 p.m.
Key Stops: The North Western Railway confirmed that the train will stop at the following stations:
- Zawar
- Dungarpur
- Himmat Nagar
With the ability to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, the Udaipur–Asarwa Vande Bharat Express offers a faster and more comfortable travel option for passengers in the region
