The iPhone 18 series is expected to be one of Apple’s most discussed launches, with new reports suggesting higher prices for the Pro models and a change in Apple’s launch plans. There is some good news for buyers but it comes with a twist.

iPhone 18 Pro Models May Get More Expensive

Leaks from a Korean tipster, yeux1122, say Apple could increase the prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The reason is rising costs of memory parts like DRAM and NAND, as manufacturers are focusing more on AI server components. This has made regular smartphone memory more expensive.

On top of that, Apple’s next-generation A20 (or A20 Pro) chip is also expected to cost more than the current A19 chip. Even though Apple has reportedly secured RAM supplies from Samsung, the overall cost increase may still lead to higher prices for Pro models.

Base iPhone 18 Price May Stay the Same But There’s a Catch

The positive news is that the standard iPhone 18 is likely to keep the same starting price as the current model, according to reports from major financial firms like Citigroup, Bank of America, and JPMorgan.

However, this doesn’t mean all variants will stay affordable. Models with higher storage or more RAM could still become costlier. Also, Apple may not launch the base iPhone 18 in 2026 at all. Reports suggest it could be delayed until spring 2027.

Apple is also said to be changing its launch strategy. Instead of launching all models together in September, the company may focus first on premium devices — including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a new foldable iPhone.

This means buyers looking for a cheaper iPhone upgrade in 2026 may have limited options. You may need to pay more for a Pro model, consider Apple’s foldable phone, or wait until 2027 for the regular iPhone 18.
