The Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) has urged all its members to continue maintaining high quality standards in their export operations.
According to a statement, one of IREF’s members has signed a commercial agreement to supply 5,000 tonnes of basmati rice to a buyer in the United States.
This deal is an important step forward. It comes soon after the India–US trade agreement was finalized. Under this agreement, the United States agreed to reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods from 25 percent to 18 percent.
“One of the members of IREF has successfully entered into a commercial agreement for the supply of 5,000 metric tonnes of basmati rice to a buyer in the United States of America,” the federation said.
IREF also said it has advised all members to maintain strict quality standards while exporting, ensuring that Indian rice continues to meet global expectations.
