Trump Renews ‘Midnight Hammer’ Warning for Iran After Netanyahu Meeting

President Donald Trump has warned Iran of serious consequences if the country fails to reach a new nuclear deal with the United States. Following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday, Trump repeated his “Midnight Hammer” warning.

“Last time Iran decided not to make a deal, they were hit with Midnight Hammer. That did not go well for them,” Trump said. He was referring to the U.S. airstrikes in June that destroyed Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. “Hopefully, this time they will be more reasonable and responsible.”

Progress of the White House Talks

Trump described his meeting with Netanyahu as “very good,” though he noted that no final agreements were made.

“Nothing definitive was reached, other than my insistence that negotiations with Iran continue,” Trump explained. He added that while a deal is the preferred outcome, the U.S. is prepared for other results if talks fail.

Tensions and Ongoing Negotiations

The U.S. and Iran recently began talks to create a new nuclear agreement. While Tehran called the start of these discussions “a good start,” Washington remains firm on its demands. The U.S. wants Iran to end its nuclear program and stop supporting “proxy groups” across the Middle East.

New Sanctions on Iran’s Oil Network

On February 6, shortly after representatives from both countries met in Oman, Washington issued new sanctions. These measures target Iran’s “illicit oil network,” specifically focusing on the “shadow fleet” used to move Iranian petroleum and chemicals.

The sanctions affect 15 entities, two individuals, and 14 vessels. According to the U.S. State Department, these groups help generate money that the Iranian government uses to fund “malign activities” and global instability.

The State Department criticized the Iranian regime, stating that instead of fixing domestic infrastructure or helping its citizens, the government continues to fund repression at home and conflict abroad.
