Tim Cook Addresses Immigration, AI Innovation, and Succession at Apple Town Hall
Cupertino, CA: During an all-hands meeting on Thursday, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a personal and wide-ranging message with employees. He addressed growing concerns over U.S. immigration policies, teased the company’s AI future, and discussed long-term leadership plans as Apple approaches its 50th anniversary.
A Firm Stance on Immigration and Employee Safety
Cook expressed that he is “deeply distraught” by the current U.S. approach to immigration. He spoke directly to staff members who reported feeling unsafe leaving their homes due to recent federal enforcement actions.
“No one should feel this way. No one,” Cook stated. He emphasized that Apple’s success is built on attracting “the best and brightest from all corners of the world” and noted that many team members across the U.S. are currently on visas.
In an emotional exchange, Cook spoke to an employee worried about deportation and family separation. Specifically mentioning the DACA program, Cook said, “I will personally advocate for you. I am a huge believer in the program.” He promised to continue lobbying lawmakers to ensure all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
The “Profound Opportunity” of Artificial Intelligence
Turning to technology, Cook called AI one of the most significant opportunities of our lifetime. While competitors have launched various AI-specific devices, Cook remains confident in Apple’s unique position.

“I am obsessed with this—who’s in the room 10 and 15 years from now,” Cook remarked, highlighting that planning for the next generation of leaders is a core part of his role. While he did not mention every recent departure, he framed the changes as a natural part of the company’s evolution.
Looking Ahead: 50 Years of Apple
As Apple nears its 50th anniversary this April, Cook admitted to being “unusually reflective.” He promised a celebration to mark the milestone, noting that thinking about the company’s journey over the last half-century “makes your heart sing.”
Global Growth and Supply Chain Challenges
Cook also highlighted Apple’s strong performance in emerging markets:
