Apple Inc. has confirmed plans to open a second retail store in Mumbai, expanding its presence in India, company executives said during its earnings conference call.
New Mumbai Store Planned
CEO Tim Cook said Apple wants to add another store in Mumbai after opening its fifth retail outlet in India during the December quarter. He did not share a timeline or the location of the new store.
The announcement comes as Apple reported record revenue in India for the December quarter. Demand across Apple products and services remains strong, driven by first-time buyers and a growing customer base.
Mumbai Expansion Details
Apple has not confirmed the location of the new Mumbai store.
Earlier reports suggested a store might open at Oberoi Sky City Mall in Borivali, a Mumbai suburb.
Executives did not comment on these reports during the call, only stating that Apple plans to expand its retail presence in Mumbai.
Record Revenue in India
Apple posted its highest-ever December-quarter revenue in India, fueled by strong demand from first-time buyers for iPhone, Mac, and iPad. The company highlighted India as one of its top-performing markets, alongside China and the United States, during a quarter of record global revenue.
Tim Cook said Apple achieved quarterly revenue records in India for iPhone, Mac, and iPad, along with an all-time high for services revenue.
“We set a quarterly revenue record during December,” Cook said, adding that Apple also hit “quarterly revenue records on iPhone, Mac, and iPad, and an all-time revenue record on services” in India.
